Funding & Partnerships for Waterway Development

Intended to assist groups with water-recreation based ideas, this program can help your organization bring its ideas to life, whether you want to create or improve a launch site, purchase safety equipment, start an educational program, or host a community paddling or cleanup event. This opportunity does not require cost matching and offers groups up to $5,000 towards their proposed projects. All awarded funds must be used in the same year they are awarded. Projects may be funded wholly or partially, and funds are typically awarded in Spring with the completion of projects and reports due in Fall.

Who is Eligible?

The Alabama Waterway Enhancement Program welcomes applications from organizations of all sizes and locations in Alabama, recognizing the importance of fostering inclusivity and accessibility in water recreation opportunities. We understand that public access improvements, equipment upgrades, and engaging events are crucial in promoting Alabama’s waterways and getting people out on the water together. Our application process ensures that groups can easily apply for and access the funding they need to positively impact their local community. We aim to create more opportunities for people to build connections, strengthen the paddling community, and enjoy Alabama’s waters.
