The lower half of the Trail will be particularly attractive for all types of powerboats because the three locks on the lower half of the Trail mean that a powerboat can make the trip from Montgomery in two days and even a slow powerboat can make it in four days. Campgrounds are available all along the route.

Note: As of 2017, the three locks on the Alabama River operate on a limited schedule, which changes seasonally. These locks are not staffed every day. Boaters should contact the Lock Operations Manager at Claiborne Lock & Dam to determine the current schedule. The number for the Claiborne Lock and Dam is 251-282-4575.
