The lower half of the Trail will be particularly attractive for all types of powerboats because the three locks on the lower half of the Trail mean that a powerboat can make the trip from Montgomery in two days and even a slow powerboat can make it in four days. Campgrounds are available all along the route.

Join us on our fun FREE annual float down Dog River on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 1PM. This year’s event will begin and end at the Perch Creek launch sites. Come to the River Shack Restaurant and Grill for a post Drift party. The Great Drift helps to promote the Dog River Scenic Blueway; a string of sites along Dog River that provide public access to the River and all its natural beauty. This year's event is designed to be more family- and beginner-friendly, taking place in the protected waters of Perch Creek, a Dog River tributary. Safety boats will accompany the paddlers.
